How to load currency to your Qantas Pay card
To load money onto your Qantas Pay card, choose from these three options:
Instant load with a Debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay (0.5% Fee)
For immediate access to your money, use your Mastercard or Visa debit card by selecting the ‘Instant Load’ option in the Qantas Pay app or website.
Bank transfer (Free)
To load from your bank account for access to you money the next business day*:
- Select 'Bank Transfer' in the Qantas Pay app or website.
- Follow the prompts to complete the transfer through your bank, remember to include the unique reference number so we can identify your transaction
* Funds transferred before 2pm AEST/AEDT Monday to Friday will be available the next business day.Funds transferred on weekends and public holidays will be available within 2-3 business days.
BPAY (Free)
To Load with BPAY:
- Choose 'BPAY' in the Qantas Pay app or website.
- Follow the prompts to complete the BPAY transaction using the Biller Code and unique Customer Reference Number
Your funds will be available within 2-3 business days.

Qantas Pay offers a great option to load and lock in currency rates³, helping you to avoid currency fluctuations when you travel.
Load local currency
When making transactions overseas, you may be asked if you’d like to transact in Australian Dollars or the local currency loaded. Select to pay in the local currency to avoid foreign transaction costs.

Learn more about loading your Qantas Pay card
You can load up to 10 foreign currencies onto your prepaid Qantas Pay card. These are: United States Dollar, Great British Pound, Euro, Thai Baht, New Zealand Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Japanese Yen and Emirati Dirham.
You can load all currencies at once or one at a time, depending on the nature of your trip. When you do this, you’ll lock in the exchange rate for each of them3 – that way, you’ll always know what you have to spend while you're away.
If you’re travelling to a destination where we don’t offer a locked-in rate – for example Indonesia, China or South Africa, you can load and spend Australian dollars. Our daily rate for the currency you’re spending in will apply.5
The load limits of a Qantas Pay card are as follows:
The maximum individual amount you can load onto a Qantas Pay card in any 24-hour period is AU$20,000. The maximum amount you can load on a Qantas Pay card using instant load is:
- AU$15,000 in any 24-hour period
- AU$30,000 in any 7-day period
- AU$60,000 in any 30-day period
Yes, you can use your prepaid currency card internationally to make purchases or withdraw money from any ATM/wherever Mastercard is accepted. If you’re using your card internationally, you may be asked if you’d like to transact in Australian Dollars or the local currency.6
If you have the local currency loaded onto your Qantas Pay card, Qantas Pay card, select to pay in the local currency as the rate is already locked in. If you select to pay in Australian Dollars, or you do not have the local currency loaded onto your card, your currency will be converted for you at the foreign exchange rate for the relevant currency at the time of your transaction.5
